Hypnobirthing in Berkshire and Surrey with Personal, Trusted Support

Hypnobirthing, for me, is about more than birth. I teach simple, practical tools that help you feel calm, informed and in control, not just during labour, but in everyday life too.

If you are looking for hypnobirthing in Berkshire and Surrey, my in person course is a fully comprehensive antenatal experience. I guide you and your birth partner through how your body works, both physically and hormonally, so you feel confident in what is happening. Everything I teach is grounded in science, delivered in a way that feels clear and supportive.

I offer hypnobirthing in Berkshire, Hampshire and Surrey as small group classes or one-to-one, with a maximum of three couples. This keeps things personal and gives you space to ask questions and feel properly supported. The course is detailed, so most of my clients do not feel the need for additional antenatal classes.

Alongside this, I offer antenatal and postnatal support in Berkshire and Surrey as a doula. I am a mum of two, a Labrador owner, part Italian, and happiest outdoors in flat shoes. Family life keeps me grounded and shapes how I support others.

There is a lot to take in during pregnancy, and I love helping you make sense of it all. If I can help you feel calmer and more confident as you prepare to meet your baby, that is exactly why I do this work.

I also work closely with Frimley Park Trust and co chair the Maternity Voices Partnership Committee. This NHS group brings together families, midwives and doctors to help shape and improve local maternity care. It is something I care deeply about and it influences everything I offer my clients.

The surprising bit about Hypnobirthing?

Hypnobirthing is entirely logical and based on scientific fact. It’s simply the psychology of birth and the study of birth physiology – it’s about learning how to best nurture your birth hormones and navigate your instincts. Parents who have invested in hypnobirthing have cited the following pluses to me in recent years:

The potential to shorten labour.

No promises, but gentle hypnosis during birth may help shorten the first stage of labour. This stage involves both early and active labour, when contractions become longer, stronger and closer together as the cervix opens.

Fewer interventions.

Evidence-based research has shown conclusively that hypnobirthing can help mothers to avoid medical intervention. If you’re more in control of your choices and birthing environment, you naturally relax into the experience. This encourages supremely relaxed muscles and allows your mind to clear and operate in a new and powerful way. A relaxed mind equals a relaxed body.

Natural pain management.

If you’re trying to go drug-free, hypnobirthing may help. The more relaxed you are, the less likely you are to need pain-relief.

Feel in control.

When you’re fully relaxed, you have far less to fear from childbirth. This can give you a confidence boost and give you a sense of control that lots of people don’t expect from the experience.

Additionally, hypnobirthing can be a powerful tool in combating the flooding of the body with adrenaline and the “fight or flight” instinct that comes with it. When your body senses danger or anticipates fear, it can automatically go into shut down resulting in discomfort, panic and, of course, pain. Hypnobirthing can help release oxytocin (the “love hormone”) that in turn results in the kind of relaxation and calm that can keep you centred, focussed and, most importantly, relaxed.

The key thing to understand is this: relaxation techniques aren’t just lovely extras to make the birthing room a more pleasant place. Relaxation is absolutely essential for a smoother experience and, statistically, a natural birth.

“I highly recommend Hypnobirthing with Erika. I’ll be honest I didn’t really know what to expect as I was recommended to do it to help with relaxation techniques during birth. Well…it has opened my eyes hugely and taught me so much. Some of the things seemed so obvious, but I had no idea. Her calmness, understanding, knowledge and such caring personality made the four week course such an incredible journey. I am genuinely gutted we have now finished but I feel I have been given some great tools to use during birth and I actually understand a lot more of what is ahead and what my choices are.

If you are thinking about Hypnobirthing and not 100% I can’t honestly recommend Erika enough, you won’t regret it.” Kate
