ABOUT ERIKA
Erika. Me. Mum. Photographer. Birth professional
(but not necessarily in that order)
Before you invite me to be part of one of the most extraordinary days of your life, it’s a good idea to get to know me a little bit.
I’m a proud part-Italian (mostly in it for the cooking, although I am fluent in Italian thanks to my mum), joyful Labrador-owner and mum to two glorious kids. Between them and my partner, I’m kept grounded and busy, I enjoy wearing flat shoes, wide-open spaces, and Rhonda Byrne’s book The Secret. If you haven’t read it, I urge you to!
I am deeply nostalgic which is probably why I first picked up a camera. I believe photographs to be magical, mad things that can transport you right back to a single moment in time.
Check out my birth photography page!
A memory captured and printed that had slipped from your memory years ago are like miniature time machines you can hold in your palm.
My work as a doula is both rewarding and increasingly fascinating. There’s so much information to absorb during pregnancy and birth, it brings me joy to help new parents navigate it all. If I can help just a handful of couples each year with their births and new babies, I consider it a great year. My work is super satisfying and I love every exhilarating moment of it.
I also work with Frimley Park Trust, I co-chair the Maternity Voices Partnership Committee. A Maternity Voices Partnership (or MVP) is an NHS working group: a team of women and their families, providers (midwives and doctors) working together to review and contribute to the development of local maternity care. It’s something that forms the backbone of all of my work and something incredibly close to my heart.
